    Description

This is one of those Masonic books you only get once in a lifetime to own.
Not because of the person who wrote it, but the person who owned it.
This pocket digest was written by MW. Robert MaCoy.
Robert MaCoy was a past Grand Master, founder of
the Order of Eastern Star and also Order of Amaranth.
He also founded MaCoy publishing which still operates today.
The book has 200 engravings, faint but still has the gold leaf page edges.
    Hardcover, 128 pages.
Contains, all 3 degrees with engravings, Charges to the candidate, funeral service
reception of the Grand Master, Installation of officers and more.
The book has some wear on the outer cover, but the inner pages are perfect, the cover page does have some black at the top, please see pic, I WILL not try to clean it.
It was printed by Clark, Austin, Smith Co. of NY in 1854 and I think this may be
a first edition.   Overall condition very very good.
Now the great part, this book was purchased decades ago from what was left of a once large Masonic library, from a brother who lived in the Back Bay of Boston.  This was one of those books I was able to procure and not realizing at the time who owned it.
There is a small piece of paper glued to the inside cover of the book that states:
    G.W. Chase's Masonic Library.
George W. Chase was a famous mason, author, who wrote the Masonic Harp in 1858 and also his own Digest of Masonic Law in 1863 as well as other books, Masonic and Non-Masonic.
A book similar to this one, written by MaCoy BUT not from the Masonic Library of G.Chase, sold in 2021 on liveauctioneer for 5.   This book is far better than that, being from the personel library of a Masonic author.  This is a piece of history and should sell for over 450 dollars.
