SS DANIEL J. MORRELL ship cover with a pictorial postmark from Washington, DC dated July 1, 2021. Color photo cachet #1847 of the ship by Alvin Eckert USCS #9964.This 603' bulk cargo freighter was steaming in ballast when she sank in a storm on Nov 29. 1966 on Lake Huron. See her web pages for the details of her design, construction and service history. 28 crewmen were lost in this disaster.
Cover is franked with a 3 cent Soo Locks stamp # 1078 and a 55 cent American Flag stamp.
