Harpers Ferry NHP is located at the border between WV and VA and is part of America's
National Parks and Monuments.
This National Park was established in 1944 and is administered by the National Park Service.
The park preserves and interprets this historic town at the confluence of the Potomac and
Shenandoah Rivers. The town's history includes the violent episode with abolitionist John Brown
and the soldiers in 1959 when he captured the federal armory. The also was fighting here in 1862 during
the Civil War. There is a visitor center with a museum and gift shop.  See the site's web page for further
