It has a rubber bladder inside that can be blown up or use a CO2 cartridge. The bladder has not been checked to see if it is in working and usable condition. This piece is old. Please get it checked out before using it as an actual life preserver. The company is Charlie Buoy by Trager Mfg. Co. of Seattle. The box shows wear but is solid. The instructions are still in the box. It is considered a vest but the back is just the adjustable straps to hold it tight. There is no fabric on the back, just the front. There is also a felt piece along the top for fishing flies. There is a flap pocket and lower pockets.
