The common theme selected for the 12th edition of this Ibero-American Series is
Historic Trains
.
The silver proof coins represent a classic train from each participating country: Ecuador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal and Spain.
All designs are original.
Guatemala's entry has the "Steam Locomotive number 34."
Ecuador's entry shows Locomotive No. 8, one of the three that first arrived in Quito in 1908. Spain's entry is the "Mataró Locomotive." Nicaragua's entry is the “Locomotive number 25” that was in operation until 1994. Paraguay's entry depicts the Carlos Antonio López Railroad. Peru's entry shows the British Railroad that went from Lima to Callao, and the coin of Portugal depicts the “Line of the Duero” train, still in operation.
A commemorative silver medal is included in the collection with the same technical specifications as the coins. In this medal, the engravers of the Spanish Royal Mint present an allegory of the train as a link between all Ibero-American countries.
Set includes two Lighthouse™ Mahogany-grained display cases with glass lids, Certificate of Authenticity, and booklet.
